Sunday Schedule Update

Beginning September 10, our Sunday schedule will reflect a few changes based on valuable feedback the FPC community provided about what’s working well and what could be better. At their May meeting, the FPC Session approved recommendations from the Coordinating Council to add a Faith Formation Hour before worship, with classes for all ages. Faith Formation will take place from 9:15 – 10:15am. The time for worship will be adjusted to start at 10:30am, allowing for transition from the morning classes. Evening worship will continue to be held at 5pm, followed by dinner.

The revised schedule will start on September 10, our Homecoming Sunday. More details will be shared in the coming weeks. A few highlights include:

  • A new class for adults, in addition to the Covenant Class.
  • Children’s Chapel each week following the Time for Young Disciples in morning and evening worship.
  • Special adult faith formation opportunities on Sunday afternoons to be offered periodically, such as during Advent, J-Term, and Lent.
  • A new choir meeting time of 9:45am on Sunday mornings

Beginning last fall, the Coordinating Council, at the direction of the Session, implemented an assessment process to hear from as many church members as possible what was working well and what could be better about the Sunday schedule. We are truly grateful for the many responses we received from individuals who participated in these conversations. Your church leaders carefully and prayerfully considered the comments and suggestions you shared. We hope the new Sunday schedule and in particular, the Faith Formation opportunities, will nurture your faith and inspire you to serve the world God so loves.
