Children

Our goal is for children to come to know God’s presence in their lives and to be assured that they are cherished and cared for as beloved children of God.

Nursery Care

Nursery care is available during morning and evening worship for infants through three-year-olds. Our dedicated, paid staff are background-checked and adhere to our Child & Youth Protection Policy. During the Summer our nursery is open in the Morning from 10AM – 12:00PM and in the Evening from 4:45PM– 6:15PM. Registration is not required. For questions, email childrensministry@fpcrichmond.org.

Children's Faith Formation

Children’s Ministries serves disciples ages 4 years through 5th grade with weekly faith formation opportunities during morning and evening worship services. There are two age group offerings: 4-year-olds through 2nd grade, and 3rd grade through 5th grade. Faith formation is taught by Children’s Ministry pastors and staff, supported by faithful volunteers.

Wonder Hour

Starting on September 13th, children ages 3 through 5th grade are encouraged to attend faith formation classes (Wonder Hour) tailored just for them on Sunday mornings from 9:15 to 10:15. Children gather in two age groups: ages 4 through 2nd grade and 3rd through 5th grade. This is a great opportunity for our youngest disciples to build community with one another as they read the Bible, engage in art and crafts, and play games. Registration is encouraged. Curriculum:

The Children’s Ministry uses the PC(USA)’s curriculum, “Follow Me: Biblical Practices for Faithful Living.” This curriculum is based on practices Jesus did and taught us to do as faithful followers. It examines where these practices are found in the Bible and how they have been used in the Christian faith then and now.

Our littlest disciples will use “Play-n-Worship: Play-Along Stories for Preschoolers.” They’ll toss bouncy balls in the air to make rain for Noah’s Ark. They’ll clang building blocks together to make thunder and learn how God calms a storm. They’ll hug and hold baby dolls and hear about God’s great care for them!

Children's Chapel

Join us every Sunday for Children’s Chapel following the Time for Young Disciples. During our 20-minute lesson, we catch up with one another, sing a song, explore the day’s Scripture lesson through questions and conversation, and share prayer requests. Weather permitting, we end our time together on the playground!

Wonderful Wednesdays

Children age 4 through 5th grade will gather for singing, arts and crafts, scripture, and snacks. Throughout the program, children will have a chance to grow in their faith, build relationships, and practice a song they will share in morning worship on October 25. Registration is required, and the $25 fee covers art supplies, a t-shirt, and snacks. Contact Cate Jobe to register your child(ren).

Club 3-5

Club 3-5 is a time for those in grades 3, 4, and 5 to experience activities similar to a youth group, including playing games, reading scripture, and spending time together. We meet in the youth suite from 3:45-4:45 pm. This fall, we will gather on the third Sunday of the month: September 20, October 18, and November 15. Registration is required.
