All are welcome, especially teens and their families.

Join us as we “seize the awkward” and tackle mental health and topics related to suicide prevention. With the goal of encouraging open dialogue for teens and their families in the Richmond community, this community forum will offer tips and empowerment for finding the right words to help those struggling with mental health challenges.

You'll hear from Ray Paul, Jr., Chair of the National Board of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Ray and his family lost their son and brother, Buck to suicide at the age of 25. Since their loss, the family’s mission has been suicide prevention, bringing hope and healing to fellow suicide loss survivors.

The panel will also feature Erica Mann, Director of Learning and Special Projects at United Methodist Family Services, a Richmond-based nonprofit that provides a comprehensive array of programs to support children, teens, and parents as they work to overcome challenges, including mental health issues. During her time with UMFS, Erica has worked extensively in a number of community-based services supporting high risk families and mental health needs. Erica lives in the Richmond area with her family and is a proud mom to middle-school twins.
