SEPTEMBER 2025 - Partnering for Justice and Hope
Join us this September for a four-week Diving Deeper series featuring our primary outreach partners: Armstrong Leadership Program, Henry Marsh Elementary, Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, and RISC (Richmonders Involved in Strengthening our Communities). Each week, we’ll hear directly from leaders on the ground, learn about their mission and values, and explore their unique challenges in today’s political and cultural climate. Discover how our church can stand alongside these partners—and how you can be part of the work for justice, equity, and hope.
OCTOBER 2025 - When Biblical Characters Behave Badly
What are we supposed to do with people in the Bible whose actions contradict Jesus’ teachings and our faith’s values? This class will take a look at some of scripture’s most challenging figures—those who deceive, abuse power, or commit violence—and ask whether traditional interpretations have sometimes glossed over their faults. Can we question these characters without canceling scripture? Together, we’ll seek a more thoughtful, courageous, and honest way of engaging the problematic people in the stories of our tradition.
NOVEMBER 2025 - The Third Testament, Listening for God Today
What would we include if the Spirit called us to write a Third Testament that bears witness to God’s love and claim on the world today? In this imaginative class, we’ll explore modern poems, sermons, songs, speeches, and other writings that reveal who God is and who we are called to be. Participants are invited to bring and share texts that have shaped their sense of faith and calling. Come wonder together about the voices through whom God might still be speaking.
