About Ashtyn:

Having been born/raised in Nebraska, I am a Midwesterner who now calls Virginia home. I wasn't sure what came next after graduating college, but I knew I wanted to venture beyond home and experience life somewhere completely different. That sense of curiosity led me to serve as a PC(USA) Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) in New Orleans, where I lived in an intentional community with six fellow YAVs and worked at an adult education program.

My year in New Orleans transformed me in ways I never could have anticipated. It opened my eyes to the realities of injustice in our world and deepened my commitment to lifelong learning. Those experiences led me to move to Richmond in 2019 to attend Union Presbyterian Seminary. I completed two internships here at First Pres and earned a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Christian Education in 2023. Today, I wear many hats within our church community by serving as the Executive Administrative Assistant.

Outside of church, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Seth, and our dog, Queen. I also love reading a good book, working on a puzzle, and enjoying a great cup of coffee. Whether I'm welcoming someone to church or organizing behind the scenes, I believe everyone has a story worth hearing. It's through those stories that we discover how deeply we're connected—to one another and to Christ. I look forward to getting to know you and hearing your story, too!
