About Margaret

I am originally from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. I completed a B.S. in Music Education and a B.A. in Music at Lebanon Valley College and even more recently graduated with a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College. I am definitely not a stranger to church music. I grew up in a very small United Methodist Church and watched my mother conduct the chancel choir every Sunday. I can remember staying for choir rehearsals every Wednesday night and though I was supposed to be doing my homework quietly, I would instead race my brother, Tim, under the church pews in the sanctuary. I had no idea at the time I would eventually serve the church as a musician!

I feel very fortunate to be here working at FPC. I am inspired by the outstanding leadership team and the generous and giving spirits of FPC's members. I am passionate about teaching people how to sing, so if I am not playing the organ or the piano, you will see me working with the grades 1-2 choir, assisting with choral sectionals and teaching voice lessons! "Body, mind, spirit, voice: It takes the whole person to sing and rejoice!" - Helen Kemp

I met my amazing husband, Eric, at LVC. He was my unofficial math tutor for a math course I was not supposed to be taking! We got married in 2016 at Lewis Ginter and we now live in the Manchester area near Legends with our grouchy Miniature Schnauzer, MJ.
