For fun I like to: ski, hang out with friends and family, hike, play Code Names, watch movies and walk my dog
I grew up in a small town in New Hampshire as the middle child with two brothers. I started skiing when I was three years old and it is still my favorite sport. My second home was the local Congregational Church, United Church of Christ. I was baptized, confirmed, ordained and married in that same church. I also attended a YMCA camp every summer for 11 years and my time living, playing and working in those woods had a huge influence on my spiritual life and my vision of community.
I studied comparative religion and government at St. Lawrence University (skiing!) and received my M.Div. from Harvard Divinity School in 1989. I was ordained that same year and have spent the past 30 years serving churches, universities and secondary schools in California, Minnesota, Massachusetts and Virginia. I have worked in UCC, Presbyterian, Episcopal and Quaker communities. The focus of my ministry has often been in areas of spiritual formation, community engagement and discernment in times of transition.
After living in Charlottesville for 20 years, my husband Jeff and I moved to Richmond two years ago for Jeff’s work at the University of Richmond. We have loved getting to know this city! We have two daughters who are now off on their own. Our oldest, Maddie, lives in Brooklyn and our youngest, Meg, just moved to Denver (more skiing!). And we have one more girl…a five-year old golden retriever named Charlie.
