I grew up in Dallas. It’s true that everything is bigger in Texas. I met my husband Phil through mutual friends when he was attending The Citadel in Charleston, SC and I was at Queens College in Charlotte, NC. We lost touch after I graduated but reconnected several years later when I was in my last year of seminary in Pasadena, CA. I graduated, we got married, and I took my first call as a pastor in San Angelo, TX. Phil decided he wanted to change careers, which eventually led to our moves to the Dallas metroplex for medical school and then Richmond for residency. Throughout that time, we had three children—a daughter, Allison, and boy/girl twins, Bennett and Bailey! After Phil finished residency, we loved Richmond so much we decided to stay.
I’ve worked in ministry with preschoolers, kids, youth, young adults and older adults. It has been my joy to serve as a pastor at three different churches in my 15 years of ordained ministry. I love the Church—the people of God—and I especially love encouraging folks to become more adventurous followers of Jesus. It is this love for helping people grow in their faith that brings me to FPC to be the Interim Associate Pastor for the areas of Adult Education and Outreach.
