September 2019 First Sunday Loose Offering
First Sunday Loose Offering on September 1st to benefit Sportable - Richmond Adaptive Sports and Recreation
Here at FPC, on the first Sunday of each month we dedicate our “Loose Offerings” (monies collected in the offering plate each Sunday, but not designated towards the fulfillment of a pledge) to a specific community mission partner. It’s a wonderful way to include all family members, regardless of age, in the giving process.
Our Loose Offering for September 2019 is dedicated to Sportable, whose main goal is to free athletes to see beyond their disabilities. Sportable feels strongly that sports are just the catalyst needed for individuals with physical disabilities to create that support system that is needed to reduce social isolation. A small sampling of sports offered are tennis, swimming, lacrosse, cycling, kayaking and road racing. There are a total of 12 sports offered and Sportable serves both youth and adults in the RVA area.
Here are some of the ways that our gift can make a direct impact:
$25 Provides an official wheelchair rugby ball
$50 Provides an official NWBA basketball
$100 Provides 1 hour of programming for our athletes
$150 Provides a helmet for wheelchair lacrosse
$250 Covers the cost to register a team for a weekend tournament
$500 Provides a new set of wheels for a sports chair
