Peace & Global Witness Offering Sunday Oct. 6

Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, invites us to the table — the table we share with those who suffer, as he suffered, to be nourished by his compassion. Christ invites, and our doors open to all those who work actively for reconciliation and advocate for God’s justice, which makes for peace.

This Sunday, October 6, we will make a special offering through the Presbyterian Church (USA). The Peace & Global Witness Offering enables the church to promote the peace of Christ by addressing systems of injustice in our own communities and around the world.

The Peace & Global Witness Offering draws Presbyterians together as active peacemakers, and provides education and exposure to those who show us how to do this work well. It allows us to create resources for dealing with conflict and nurturing reconciliation, and stand in support of our global sisters and brothers, because the peace of Christ belongs to people everywhere.

Your gift will join with others as the Church works for peace including an end to gender-based violence and discrimination. The PC(USA) responds by supporting partners in places like Guatemala and the Democratic Republic of Congo working to address the trauma of gender-based violence and advocate for changed hearts and minds. In addition, your gifts aid in developing resources that help congregations respond to this need in their context.

This is one of four annual special offerings. The church-wide Special Offerings of the Presbyterian Church (USA) play an important role in defining what it means to be a connectional church in the twenty-first century, bringing together the diversity of the PC (USA) to focus and take faith-based action on shared concerns. The Offerings offer opportunities for partnership, learning, and witness and profoundly affect the life of the church as a collective witness to Jesus Christ’s love for the whole church.
