Living Your Faith: Mauna Mullins

This new monthly feature highlights members who are living their faith through the ministries and fellowship opportunities at FPC!

When you need someone to take the lead on a project, our church is fortunate to have many capable members. One of those who takes on tasks with joy and care...down to the last Mauna Mullins.

Mauna is a long-time faithful FPC member, having served multiple terms as a deacon, elder, committee member, Circle leader, teacher and much more. She excels at planning special events such as our 200th FPC Anniversary, College of Elders banquet, Carson Lecture Series, farewells as well as welcoming events, luncheons, dinners, coordinating wedding ceremonies…all important to building community in the life of the church. And 23 years after our church sponsored a couple from Bosnia as part of our Refugee Resettlement Program, she still is a shining light in their lives (and that of their 22-year old daughter!), offering encouragement to help them continue to succeed.

A special ministry for Mauna, and husband Ed, is delivering chancel flowers after church to those who are ill, needing a little extra care, grieving, or blessed with a celebration. What an important ministry...letting members know the church is praying for them, cares about them, and is personally checking to see how we may help. It is such an act of kindness - a brief visit and the gift of flowers. If interested in being a part of this ministry, learn more at Flower Ministry Team.

Why be involved in the life of the church? Mauna enjoys visiting and letting members know their church cares about them. And she likes working on projects and committees to make FPC a welcoming community. With a large congregation it's not possible to know everyone; but for her, when you work together or become part of a small fellowship group you get to know each other as you accomplish a project or share your faith. This builds friendships and community.

Thank you, Mauna, for the talents, energy and commitment you offer to FPC!
