"Self-righteous." What does it mean? "Convinced of one's own righteousness, especially in contrast with the actions and beliefs of others. Narrow-mindedly moralistic" (Merriam-Webster).
Jesus apparently had a very difficult time with self-righteous people. Read the Gospels and you'll see that He had a real thing about it!
This Sunday, I will continue a sermon series on the Beatitudes of Jesus found in Matthew's Gospel. This week we will explore the first beatitude, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Humility seems to be one of the top 10 attributes espoused by Jesus. How does this humility play out in our everyday lives?
Join us this Sunday for "The Way of Blessedness, Part 2: Poor" in this new sermon series.
Thanks for listening,
